Uraku Matcha Tea Whisk (Chasen) — Takayama Chasen by Kubo SabunTakayama in Ikoma, Nara Prefecture, has been the home of the Japanese tea whisk (chasen) for roughly five centuries, and to this day Takayama makes the overwhelming majority of all chasen used in Japan. The craft has been handed down from master to apprentice since the Muromachi era. This chasen is hand carved by Kubo Sabun, a master tea whisk maker (chasen shi) of the long established Chikumeido workshop, working in the centuries old Takayama
