ブリュッセルを拠点に活動するアーティスト、アンリ・ヤコブス（Henri Jacobs）の作品集。作者は、紙を編み込む実験を頻繁に行っており、過去に描いたドローイングと新しい作品を、あるいは具象的なイメージと幾何学的なイメージを物理的に織り交ぜ、画像、パターン、テクスチャー、構造を一体化させた二次元的な表面を制作しています。本作では、これらの作品とドローイングのほか、織りのリサーチとして作者が収集したインドの手織りバッグや簡易ベッド、商業施設のフロア、タペストリーなどが収録されています。

本展の副題「地獄から帰ってきたところ 言っとくけど、素晴らしかったわ」はハンカチに刺繍で言葉を綴った晩年の作品からの引用です。この言葉は、ブルジョワの感情のゆらぎや両義性を暗示しつつ、ブラックユーモアのセンスをも感じさせます。自らを逆境を生き抜いた「サバイバー」だと考えていたルイーズ・ブルジョワ。生きることへの強い意志を表現するその作品群は、戦争や自然災害、病気など、人類が直面する、ときに「地獄」のような苦しみを克服するヒントを与えてくれることでしょう。
