Neomycin SulfateNeomycin is an aminoglycoside antibiotic with activity against many Gram negative and Gram positive bacteria. It is very ototoxic and is restricted to oral use for intestinal infections. Neomycin binds to ribosomal subunit and inhibits protein synthesis by blocking Ca2+ channels. Neomycin is used as a selective agent for the incorporation of the APH3 gene.
