1974 Gibson Les Paul Signature, “Goldtop”. #120706One of Gibsons lesser known models that showed up in the 1970s for a 5 or 6 year period. The obvious design idea behind this one was to morph an ES335, with a Les Paul and I think they got that aspect right. Combining an interesting pickup set, with some equally interesting switching, to create a bunch of pretty useful tones. Plenty to like about these guys, theyre fun to play. Here in Australia, those in the know call this one the Paul Kelly Model

The 2 are right on either side of an interesting cosmetic change

a particularly close and even grained

apart from the most obvious difference

these are headed for the same iconic status and one day may well be seen as the flagships of Martins second golden era

This is one from 2003 and the quality is indicative of what those new owners had in mind

This one sounds exactly like you would expect and is a delight to play with a slim C profile neck
